Here’s a press release on the new Featherlite NASCAR support and media trailer that went to its first NASCAR race last weekend…

CRESCO, Iowa/June 14, 2012 — The newly redesigned custom Featherlite “T1” NASCAR support and media trailer is gearing up for its second race of the NASCAR season this weekend in Brooklyn, Michigan. Larger and more efficient work space for media personnel was a crucial element of the new design of the trailer, which is utilized during the season by FOX, TNT, ESPN and ABC.

The 53-foot Featherlite transporter features approximately 495 square feet of usable interior space when its double slideouts are expanded. The trailer is designed with three separate work areas, two of which are used by the networks which broadcast the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. FOX and TNT share one space while ABC and ESPN work from the other. “This trailer gives the networks’ track reporters a place to call home among all the activity that’s going on in the garage area during any given race weekend,” Specialty Sales Manager Mike Galvin said. Galvin has worked with Featherlite’s NASCAR clients for nearly 20 years.

The two media areas are designed with five workstations each. Replacing the previous version of this trailer put into service over four years ago, the new trailer allows for a separate entrance to each network’s office space with an outside platform for the front one. This replaces the single and more congested entrance of the previous trailer. The new design also created additional cabinets and storage space and overall added additional square feet to each work space. An updated interior décor of grays and blacks as well as new exterior graphics enhances the trailer.

The third portion of the trailer is utilized by Featherlite as a support and sales hub. Featherlite supplies nearly 90% of the NASCAR teams with race car haulers. Featherlite has support staff on site at each race to address any service issues, and these Featherlite personnel are headquartered from T1 in the garage area. In addition, sales personnel have a private meeting area they can utilize. The rear exterior of the trailer features TV monitors that display timing and scoring information, as well as weather updates, for others in the garage area to view.

Featherlite driver Jake Patterson, who transports the trailer to each race, said the added space and new interior décor were the two things that stood out to him and the TNT crew at the trailer’s first race in Pocono. ESPN will use their space for the first time this weekend in Michigan.

Featherlite is also the manufacturer of trailers used by NASCAR to serve as office and meeting space for race officials and other personnel. Typically, around ten Featherlite transporters are used at each Sprint Cup race each weekend by NASCAR alone, according to Galvin.
