Featherlite®, headquartered in Cresco, Iowa, is the nation’s original aluminum specialty trailer brand, building its first trailer in 1973.
Featherlite Trailers was established in Oklahoma in 1973. One of its dealers was located in Cresco, Iowa, and therefore, began building Featherlite trailers in Cresco in 1979. Expansion to its manufacturing facilities took place in 1985, 1992 and 1995.
In 1992 Featherlite built its first semi race car transporter for RCR team owner Richard Childress and NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt. Soon after, Featherlite was building large race transporters for many race teams and eventually other large-scale, custom specialty transporters and trailers for a vast range of clients.
Featherlite manufactures thousands of trailers annually at its operations in Cresco, Iowa, with a workforce of over 400 in facilities of 310,000 square feet. Featherlite’s highly customized transporters and trailers are sold from Featherlite’s specialty trailer sales office at its headquarters in Cresco.
Customers also enjoy highly diversified consumer product lines offering horse, livestock, car and utility trailers as well as motorcycle, ATV, snowmobile and other recreational trailers for outdoor enthusiasts of every kind. Featherlite trailers are sold through a dealer network of 100 in the U.S. and Canada. Featherlite is sponsor and “official trailer” of premier organizations, including NASCAR®.
